Preconception and Pregnancy Care

As your body undergoes the many changes necessary to help you create and carry your baby, you may experience tension, pain and discomfort.  Chiropractic care during your pregnancy will help your body better adjust to the increased demands on your body.  Our techniques also aim to reduce dystocia (difficult labor) on the big day.  Continued care during your 4th trimester (after birth) is also vital to allow your body to adjust back to its pre-pregnancy state.

Our chiropractor Dr Miriam Kendall is certified in Webster Technique by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).  Webster Technique is a gentle and modified treatment approach for our pregnant mums that focuses on balancing the lower back and pelvis.  After a thorough assessment, you can lie comfortably on a Belly Pillow throughout your visit.

Restoring Balance to the sacrotuberous ligaments, round ligaments, and psoas muscles may allow for optimal baby positioning and passage through the pelvis on the big day.  Restoring movement of the lumbar, sacral and sacroiliac joints may allow better functioning of the nervous system, providing power on the big day.

Dr Miriam has extensive training in Spinning Babies.  It is also a great online resource that parents can use to support their bodies throughout the pregnancy.  These exercises may be demonstrated during your appointment.  We do not treat the unborn baby or physically turn breech presentations.

Nutritional supplements are important pre-conception, during pregnancy as well as after birth.  We can prescribe clinical range supplements including Metagenics and Bioceuticals (if necessary).

Exercise prescription is also available through Physitrack.  This app provides you with tailored exercise video demonstrations.

Pregnancy can be a scary new chapter in one's life, but we are here to support you and your growing baby.  We are happy to answer any questions you may have or discuss any concerns.  We may also help monitor your weight, blood pressure and for other complications through a urinalysis.  Through co-management with your midwife, GP and/or obstetrician, you will be treated with the utmost care.
